The Devon first appeared in the March 1949 price list see picture. It was introduced as an economical 173/8 inch body instrument. The appointments were less lavish than those of the Triumph and less expensive woods were used: mahogany for the rims and laminated back and cherry for the neck. The 1950 catalog states: catalog 1950
According to Wiedler Epiphone produced from 1949-’56 around 700 Devons of which now 72 examples have been registered.
