The museum purchased the guitar June 2009 online from Joe Vinikow of Archtop.com who got the guitar from Johnny Calcagno who played it with the Zazou gypsy/cabaret band . No further history known. Joe wrote:

“In the shop of archtop.com a new ebony bridge and a new vintage correct bound tortoiseshell pickguard were installed, along with new vintage correct nickel Grover Sta-Tite tuners with butterbean metal buttons, and a fresh pro vintage style fretwork. A Kent Armstrong Handmade 2D Ultra slim humbucking pickup was installed, with volume and tone controls and an endpin jack. The original sunburst finish was touched up with a light dusting of vintage style nitrocellulose lacquer. A hairline crack near the pickguard has been soundly resealed, and another by the neckheel in the side.”

November 2009 the guitar was brought in at the shop of Dutch luthier Hans de Louter (Apeldoorn, the Netherlands) who replaced the binding at the leftside of the headstock and installed u new bone nut. The bridge did not fit properly, so it was replaced by a new ebony bridge. September 2023 the instrument was sold to Dutch archtopplayer Willem Niewold.
